Ducks Over the Lake

We all start this life with a family, whether that family is composed of blood relatives, adopted parents, or a foster family. The family that we are born into influences every aspect of our lives, from our first moments to our last. It affects who we are, how we see ourselves and who we become. We learn our vocabulary, our communication behaviours, our habits and the way to view and observe the world around us, from our family. This makes understanding our family relationships very important to our lifelong development and growth.

Families can be very complicated because everyone is unique. Each person thinks and talks about things in a different way, and each person has different ideas, feelings, worries and strengths.

Communication therapy takes principles of communication, alongside identification and resolution of attachment and ancestral patterns, as the basis for creating better understanding, tolerance and functioning within ourselves and within our personal relationships and family units. Therapy helps families and individuals when they feel stuck in feelings of helplessness, responsibility, dissatisfaction or repeating unwanted patterns of behaviour. Whether attending therapy as an individual or as a family unit, the goal of therapy will be to help you understand yourself and your family patterns better, and to address unrecognised or unresolved issues, past and present. In doing so your family relationships and your mental health will improve.

It is important to keep in mind that therapy is not a magic pill or a quick fix: therapy is a healing process that necessitates participation and investment from the all parties involved. In the end, taking responsibility for our patterns, making small changes to self-defeating behaviours, introducing new methods of communication and coping with unresolved feelings, can bring life-altering results.

This is Life Alchemy:

the seemingly magical process of transmuting, transforming, creating and combining elements of your current life into a new reality aligned with your dreams and best hopes

Claire started her career, working closely with families, as a Speech and Language Therapist in the NHS, initially in the North of England and later within a number of East London Boroughs across a variety of settings. With extensive experience working with children of all ages and their families, within mainstream schools, special educational provisions, preschools, nurseries, clinics and clients' homes, Claire began to develop an interest in family communication, and the role this plays in both management of behaviour in children with Special Educational Needs (including speech and language needs), as well as parent-child/family relationships in general. Following further study in areas of Attachment Theory in Early Years, Pre and Peri-Natal Birth Trauma, Ancestral Healing, and Emotional Regulation and Behaviour Management, Claire established Conscious Communication Therapies: including Conscious Communication Family Therapies and Conscious Communication SLT Consultancy.

Claire holds a Masters degree (MSc) in Phonetics and a First Class Hons BSc Clinical Language Sciences (Speech and Language Therapy) degree, and has completed numerous post-graduate training, specialist study and courses in the areas listed above. Before pursuing her passion as a Family and Communication Therapist, Claire worked as a translator and interpreter for two multinational companies after qualifying with a BA French and Spanish degree.

When she takes time off, Claire loves to get out in nature - usually to the nearest beach or large expanse of water! She loves spending time with her family and visiting Derbyshire and Yorkshire where she grew up. Claire's dream is to set up her own group of 'bringer of light' schools inspired by the thinking and theories upon which her therapy is based, and then to travel the world in a campervan! Claire is also an artist and makes dreamcatchers for healing and transformation on a commission basis for public spaces, including yoga studios, clinics and independent shops. She creates holistic and transformational skincare, tinctures and alchemical oil blends for wellness from the inside, out.
